LIFE PL4B at the Birdwatching Festival and Nature Activities

On October 4th and 5th, 2025, at the Birdwatching and Nature Activities Festival, within the scope of the Powerlines4Birds Project, SPEA held a workshop on the interaction between power lines and birdlife, highlighting the presentation of the new bird incident reporting module in the E-REDES application.

On both days, the workshop was sold out and the approximately 40 participants were very engaged, asking numerous questions that revealed their great interest in the topic and willingness to collaborate in the future, recording potential incidents in the E-REDES app | E-REDES (in the main menu, to access the Bird Incidents module, select “anomalies and interventions,” then “risk situations” and finally "incidents with birds). 

The session combined a theoretical part, where the interaction between power lines and birdlife was discussed, the LIFE PowerLines4Birds project was presented to participants, and the conservation measures being implemented in the project were explained, with a practical component that allowed participants to try out the app and observe traces found in the field, such as feathers and bones. This practical interaction was greatly appreciated and reinforced the participants' enthusiasm for the topic of bird conservation and the mitigation of the impacts of power lines.
On Saturday, the session was filmed by the LengaLenga Filmes team as part of the production of the institutional film for the LIFE PL4B project, highlighting the importance of this type of initiative in raising awareness and involving the public in the protection of birdlife.

The partners in this project are the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN), the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA), QUERCUS - National Association for Nature Conservation, the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO/Birdlife), and E-Redes.
