LIFE PowerLines4Birds monitoring visit

On December 10 and 11, the LIFE PowerLines4Birds project team welcomed monitors from the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and the Environment (CINEA) and ELMEN-EEIG.

For two days, the project partners - LPN, SPEA, QUERCUS, SEO and E-Redes - together with ICNF, met with Dr. Sylvia Barova (CINEA) and Dr. João Salgado (ELMEN-EEIG) at LPN's headquarters in Lisbon.

This was a crucial moment in the project to assess the progress and results achieved so far, providing a comprehensive overview of the work carried out. The partners also had the opportunity to discuss difficulties and find solutions together.

As this is a project with a strong field implementation aimed at the conservation of endangered birds, on the second day the team left for Castro Verde.

SPAs power lines

During the visit to the power lines in the Castro Verde and Vale do Guadiana SPAs, it was possible to see the mitigation solutions implemented as part of LIFE PowerLines4Birds.

In this rich landscape, we also took the opportunity to stop, listen and observe the emblematic species of this region, some of which are the focus of this project.

The visit was a unique opportunity for the project partners to meet with the CINEA and ELMEN-EEIG monitors, exchange experiences and assess the progress made.

LIFE PowerLines4Birds will run until 2027 and will continue to play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation by mitigating the impacts of power lines on birdlife.
